And A New Series
Dear Friends,
As promised last month, below is a short summary about some of what I’ve been writing over the two pandemic years.
For lack of anything more imaginative, I’m calling my new series THE HOUSE ON GREEN STREET. This traditional historical mystery series takes a unique view on the affectionate sleuthing duo by featuring two women protagonists, young feminist companions Evelyn Winslow and Flora Fitzgerald. I like to call this series “THE THIN MAN without the alcohol.”
The first story, A PREPOSTEROUS EXCUSE takes place in 1928 during the seemingly carefree time between the wars and is set in San Francisco, an especially high-spirited city and a place where no one seems to care if the body of a presumed prostitute is dumped in a dark alley in Chinatown. No one, that is, until Evelyn and Flora hear about the death from their Chinese housekeeper. Horrified at the injustice, the two young women step up to piece together the puzzle of the identity of both the victim and her killer.
The reason you can’t read A PREPOSTEROUS EXCUSE today is because I really want to find an agent and a publisher for this series. Heartbreakingly, I’ve not found anyone who wants to take on these stories about women companions and sleuths. More about that publishing misadventure next month.
In the meanwhile, a hopeful spring note from my garden
Thank you as always for your support
Cherie
“The Thin Man without the alcohol” is a great way to introduce this series. Or, The Thin Man with two women and no booze…
I am looking forward to being able to read these books!
You go, girl! I’ve been working on procrastination during the last two years, and I believe I have now perfected that art. Hang in there, keep sending to editors and publishers. It’s hard, I know.
Good idea to reach out to the writing community for an agent. I know it will happen for you Cherie!
